Washer-Extractors (SC models)

Many factors contribute to your laundry's profitability, but most prominently featured are its washer extractors. These machines, by virtue of their size and speed, are what draw customers and produce profit. Successful coin laundry owners understand this and will install a variety of sizes.  Speed Queen offers its popular SC models in sizes of 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80lb capacities.  Features of these models include:

Speed Queen durability.  A solid frame, the "Gamma A-Frame" made from welded heavy steel is the base of stability and the beginning of more machine for your money.  Compare the Speed Queen frame that weighs 100 pounds or more to others that weigh as little as 45.5 pounds or even 33 pounds.  Our rugged cabinet resists corrosion from harsh laundry chemicals with high grade stainless steel panels and has continued to be refined over time for low to no maintenance, easy access to inside components and contributes to the overall reliability of the unit.  Oversized bearings and shaft confirm the purpose of this machine to be a dependable workhorse in your laundry.

Wide door openings.  Doors on the SC models are sized to help customers make short work of the often time-consuming tasks of loading and unloading.  The quicker your machines are unloaded, the sooner they're available for the next customer - a major benefit during peak periods.  A new button-less door handle coupled with a self aligning door lock mechanism make operation even easier.

Simple & clean chemical dispensing.  A logical 4-compartment dispenser provides customer convenience by adding pre-wash & main wash detergents, fabric softener and bleach.  At the same time, the dispenser compartment's construction is fully flushed with every use for true self-cleaning, making Speed Queen washers less effort to the store owner and more attractive to the customer.

Serviceability.  Removable top and front panels with thoughtful up front positioning of components like drain valves limit downtime by giving owners and service personnel easy access.  An improved smoothly operating key access on the top lip provides security and quick access while some competing models require great strength and or tools to perform the same task.

Stacked Drying Tumblers (STT models)

Nothing will frustrate coin laundry customers more than a dryer bottle-neck.  Speed Queen stacked tumblers can eliminate this scenario by providing two times the dryer capacity in the same space and by drying loads faster.  Adding stack dryers to your coin laundry not only positions your store to get customers out the door faster, but they also offer additional profit potential.  Features of Speed Queen stack tumblers include:

Excellence in design.  Stacked tumblers have improved much since their introduction and Speed Queen has successfully sought to design and manufacture the best quality, most efficient and fastest drying tumblers in the business.  Heat, airflow and tumble action are optimally balanced in the cabinet design of the Speed Queen tumbler to utilize fewer BTUs per pound of water removed from your customer's laundry. 

Axial airflow.  Unique in commercial dryers, axial airflow moves heated air from the back of the dryer cylinder, through the laundry and out the front half of the cylinder rather than a traditional top to bottom air movement where the laundry tends to block the air from entering the cylinder and forces it around the outside and out preventing as much drying as possible.  Axial airflow ensures every bit of heated air enters the cylinder and passes through the load.  This equates to no wasted heat, the fastest dry times in the industry and getting customers out the door quicker.

Durable construction.  Speed Queen tumblers have a proven track record of durability and long life.  Cylinders are supported at the front and the back to combat overloading and resulting cylinder sag, common in non-Speed Queen laundries.  Speed Queen stack tumblers have a coin or card mechanism for each dryer pocket which costs more to manufacture than other models with shared mechanisms but eliminates loosing both dryer pockets in the event of a single jammed coin drop.  From innovative finishes and high quality internal components to patented elliptical holes in the cylinder that allow damaging nails and screws to pass through, Speed Queen tumblers are top of the line among laundry operators.

Large, easy-clean lint compartments.  Speed Queen stacked tumblers are designed with maximum lint capacity while taking up a minimum of space.  The large lint trap and compartment perpetuates fast drying for the customer and reduces the number of times lint must be emptied while also working so effectively at keeping lint in it's place that owners will spend less time doing major cleaning of internal components and spaces.  Lint build up in unwanted places can cause malfunction, drag on moving parts, an unclean appearance and fires.

Stack Tumbler Comparison.  While Speed Queen's 30 lb. stack tumblers are the perfect answer to more dryers in less space, the newer 45 lb. stack tumbler offers owners a fantastic option to match larger capacity washers.  With twin 45 lb. cylinders, the 45 lb. stacked tumbler provides 90 lbs. of total capacity per unit thus making it much easier to have plenty of dryers in your laundry.  Derived from the 30 lb. stack, the 45 lb. stack is able to dry loads even faster, is attractive to customers and has proven to provide more revenue per square foot than any other dryer size.  This is why we include the Speed Queen 45 lb. stacked tumbler in all store designs and why others have tried to imitate Speed Queen's lead as the first with a truly great performing larger capacity stacked dryer.

25 - 75 lb. Single Pocket Drying Tumblers (ST0 models)

Large single-pocket tumblers of 50 - 75 lb. capacity are great complements to stacked tumblers in vended laundries with larger washer extractors.  In addition 25, 30 and 35 lb. units are solid choices as primary tumblers for smaller laundries, hotel guest laundry rooms or camp grounds.  Whatever their size or application, Speed Queen single pocket tumblers offer customer friendly door heights, additional optional sizes in coin or card operated dryers and a large lint screen that cleans itself automatically by depositing lint into a large storage area for easy removal.

Because these single pocket tumblers are made by Speed Queen, they come with many of the same features as the stacked tumblers mentioned above including Excellence in design, Solid construction and Solid doors.

Axial airflow.  In addition, 25, 30, 35 and the newer 55 lb. capacity tumblers have adopted additional features from the later model stacked dryers.  One of these proven features is the more efficient "Axial Airflow."  Drying tumblers with axial airflow where the heated air comes into the cyclinder from the back are always rated at a lower BTU per hour than conventional dryers of the same size.  Obviously, as long as the unit doesn't take longer to dry, we are using less gas.  Axial air flow dryers actually dry faster (when timed with same sized load of the same material) because all of the heated air is forced through the laundry before having a way to exit the cylinder rather than allowing some of the heated air to escape before entering the cylinder as with conventional dryers where the heat comes into the cyclinder from the top.  This is possible because of the relationship of the variables associated with drying fabrics, heat, airflow, tumble action and time.  If you increase one or more of these variable, the others will be subject to decrease.  Axial airflow improves air flow through the laundry allowing for a lower demand on heat energy and a shorter cycle time.  All of this is of special mention because not only are Speed Queen stacked tumblers of superior efficiency but the 55 lb. Speed Queen tumbler is in a class by itself when compared to large vended drying tumblers made by any other manufacturer.

Supported Cylinder.  Another feature shared between the stacked tumblers and the 25, 30, 35 and 55 lb. units is a front supported cylinder.  This means the weight placed in the dryer cylinder is shared between rollers in the front and a shaft or trunnion in the back as apposed to all of the weight being held by only the shaft.  This may seem of little importance and perhaps would be if we lived in a perfect world.  However, with the seemingly huge capacity of a commercial tumbler, overloading and other abuses in a "self serve" laundry can be common resulting in cylinder sagging and major damage to the unit.  This is something that the Speed Queen store owner won't have to deal with.

Top Load Washers (SWT models)

Top load washers are easy to operate and enable customers to add forgotten items after the cycle has started.  Speed Queen commercial top loaders help a coin laundry owner provide an assortment of machines to fill the varying needs of customers from washing very small loads, washing very delicate items or soaking stained items.  Speed Queen top load washers include:

Commercial components.  Heavy duty components including a stainless steel washtub, metal outer tub & transmission gears, solid bottom and a commercial grade cabinet ensure a heavier machine overall and an extended life for your investment.

Stainless quality.  A durable stainless steel tub keeps your customer' clothes looking their best longer.  The stainless steel tub becomes smoother with each use, so it won't pill, snag or fray clothes.  In addition, stainless steel won't corrode, chip, crack or pit with normal use; it is also extremely rust resistant.

Energy efficient.  Top load washers by nature washers use more water than front load washers, but Speed Queen has incorporated water saving features like spray rinsing and half load options for the customer in an effort to be as efficient as possible.  Speed Queen's top load washer is compliant with the U.S. Department of Energy's 2007 water and energy efficiency standards for commercial washers.  Owners will benefit from a significant savings in water and energy compared with older models.

High spin speed.  At 710 RPM, the Speed Queen top load washer's spin speed ranks among the highest in the industry.  Less moisture is left in loads compared with competitive models and this translates into reduced time in the dryer.

Excellent clean results.  A curved four-vane agitator delivers an industry-best 210 degree wash stroke that produces unmatched cleaning results.

Front serviceability.  Simple removal of the front panel or control hood provides easy access for servicing from the installed position.  This saves time and money and enables owners to more easily perform service themselves.

Front Load Washers (Horizon or SFT Models)

These front load washers reduce operating costs to owners because of their low water usage and very high speed extract.  The Speed Queen Horizon model line is Energy Star qualified.  The Horizon is a direct replacement for old top load washers or a low cost alternative to larger chassis machines.  They present a big appearance, have a 20 lb. wash capacity and come in a variety of configurations to satisfy many applications.

Low water consumption.  Speed Queen's Horizon washer uses as little as 12.8 gallons per cycle which is about 40% less than the average top load washer.

Large rugged door.  Horizon has a very large clear see-through door making cycle progress visible as well as loading and unloading quick and easy.  A heavy-duty piano-style hinge makes sure the door is up to the rough demands of a busy coin laundry.

High spin speed.  A 1,000 RPM spin speed increases overall laundry efficiency by removing more moisture from loads.  This greatly reduces dryer times as some customer describe clothing removed from the Horizon as being almost dry.

Clean results.  Unlike tilted tubs that seek to keep water away from a poorly designed door seal, the true horizontal design of the tub in the Horizon gives increased contact between clothes, water and detergents for superior cleaning results.  The Horizon functions more like a front load washer and provides more function for your money and your customers.

Customer convenience.  A front mount automatic flushing supply dispenser makes adding detergent, beach and softener one time at the beginning of the cycle possible and convenient for customers.  The unit is also ADA compliant for customers with disabilities.

Easy installation.  The Horizon is available with a gravity drain which has proven to be a lower maintenance option.  A pump drain allows the unit to be installed adjacent to or as an easy replacement for top load washers.
