The Main Parts of a Clothes Dryer
Blower – The blower is what pulls air in and out. It sucks in the cool dry air so that it can be circulated around the laundry, then it pulls out the hot damp air and sends it through the vents located outside of your home. It controls the whole process of air flow when drying laundry.
Controls – The controls are what you use to determine the heat levels and length of drying time. That interface is called the monitor, which is what you see on the outside of your machine. Most dryers also have a manual timer that you can set if you want to control the amount of time the dryer will run.
Drum – When you open the door, the inner tub or drum inside is where the wet clothes go. The drum spins when the dryer is in operation, and air is circulated throughout the inside in order to dry the clothes.
Drum Support Rollers – These rollers help keep the drum in place while it spins the laundry around.
Exhaust Duct – When the warm damp air needs to be released, it’s sent through the exhaust duct and through the vent to the outside.
Heating Elements – The heating duct, element and thermostat all control the length and temperature of the heat used to dry your clothes. The duct guides the cool air in and heats it up. The thermostats tells the element how hot to make the air so that it stays in the range that you have determined on the setting.
Lint Trap – Usually located near the door of the dryer, this collects fabric particles from the laundry as it's being dried.
Motor Components – The motor drives the drum belt, which makes the drum rotate. The drum belt holds it in place with a set of idler pulleys.
Power Supply – This is how energy is supplied to power the controls, motor, blower and element. A gas dryer is heated using gas, so in addition to a power supply, there should also be one to supply gas.

Dryers use the same principle and most of the same parts, except when it comes to whether it is an electric dryer or gas dryer.
