Many coin drop mechanisms can be cleared of a bent quarter in just a few minutes. This problem has become more of an issue in recent times. Historically, there weren't as many problems within laundromats. Perhaps it has something to do with the metal that quarters are currently being made from. Whatever the issue may be, bent quarters seem to be turning up on a regular basis, perplexing laundromat owners and operators.
Because of the security features of the coin drop/acceptor, objects of improper dimension and weight are purposefully rejected and returned through the lower slot of the coin drop. However, a bent quarter will stop within the mechanism and prevent further operation until the coin drop is opened and the bent coin is cleared.
