Keep the Funk Out of Your Dryers with More Tips

Commercial Dryer in Greenville, SCWelcome back! We are here to offer you a few more methods on how to keep your dryer smelling fresh and clean, despite lingering odors that can sometimes become a smelly problem! Previously, we talked about how great vinegar is when it comes to naturally cleaning a dryer. For the best prices on hotel washers or a commercial dryer in Greenville, SC, call T & L Laundry Equipment today!

In addition to vinegar, baking soda is a great household product to use for cleaning, as well. It is also used to absorb odors. Mix together 10 parts water with one part baking soda and stir until well mixed. Soak two to three old towels in the mixture for at least five minutes. Then, put the towels in the dryer and dry until all of the towels are dry.

Lemon juice is a great way to cut out smelly odors in your dryer, as well. In a gallon of warm water, squeeze at least four lemons until all of the juice is in the water. Then, soak three to four towels in the mixture until they are completely moistened but not dripping wet. Put the towels in the dryer and run it for an entire cycle or until the towels are completely dry.

Whichever method you choose is sure to remove smells from your dryer. As a precaution, consider doing one of the methods at least once every three to six months, even if your dryer doesn't smell. It's a great way to keep it clean, deodorized, and ready to use without having to worry about lingering odors.

In order to keep your clothing and fabric safe from the dryer odor that could be lingering in the future, consider a few of the following tips.

Refrain from drying high end fabric clothing and linens in a smelly dryer. High heat from the dryer could open the clothing fiber up so that unwanted smells can sink into the stitching. This can be a real problem when trying to remove the smells.

If you notice your dryer smelling even the slightest bit, consider using one of the methods we have talked about in order to get the odor removed immediately. Allowing it to linger could result in a bigger problem.

When using one of the methods above or in our previous blog post, be sure to always use the highest heat setting available. This will not only help the cleaning solution activate properly, but it'll also help the smells transfer from the dryer to the towels soaked in the cleaning solution.
